about the artist.
Bianca Yrure is a visual artist, born and living on Dharug Country (Sydney) Australia. Her practice is multidisciplinary, encompassing painting, drawing, photography and sculpture.
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from The University of Sydney in 2017, she has been involved in numerous exhibitions and markets. Her first solo exhibition was held in 2019 at GalleryONE88 and most recently exhibited at Eramboo Artist Environment in 2023.
Bianca’s subjects heavily revolve around nature as a sacred space for contemplation and reflection, alluding to the interconnections and oneness of all living things. The protection of the environment is of utmost importance to the artist and a deep appreciation is held specifically with trees, as they feature throughout her work.
Bianca's creative practice involves responding to the environment through walking and immersing herself in the landscape, capturing shifting subjects like trees, creeks, and sky in alternating mediums. The vibrancy of her visual language invites the viewer to reconnect with nature and self, reminding us that we are part of a collective body. Her art is an ode to our beautiful and fragile places, and the seen and unseen beings that inhabit them and keep them thriving.
She was highly commended in the Camden Art Prize in 2019 and Art Edit Magazines Self Represented Artist Award 2022.
